Music Monday: Cut Copy

Only two full months into this new year and the indie blogosphere is already teeming with a plethora of incredible new releases from bands old and new. But the one album that caught my attention and has best distinguished itself from the rest of the pack thus far has been Cut Copy's third full length album, Zonoscope. Hailing from all the way from Melbourne, Australia, Cut Copy has taken the indie scene by storm after their 2008 breakthrough album, In Ghost Colours. Heavily influenced by 80's synth pop, one cannot help but notice the striking resemblance to another favorite of mine, Depeche Mode. Announced as the band's second official single off Zonoscope, "Need You Now" is already one of my favorite songs of 2011.

Steadily climbing the Billboard Charts, songs such as, "Take Me Over," are a main reason why Cut Copy is currently seeing unparalleled success in the U.S.

Happy Music Monday!
