A few weeks ago the Brooklyn band, the Vivian Girls dropped a new music video for their single, "Take It As It Comes." A track off their third album, Share the Joy, the video is a nod to the song's retro spoken-word aesthetic that depicts the band giving each other love advice and is one of my favorite videos of this year.
Not surprisingly, the aforementioned song instantly reminded me of the 1960's American pop girl group, The Shangri-Las. Best known for their hit single, "Leader of the Pack," the band rose to stardom and have been cited as influences on numerous bands, Vivian Girls included. Here's video of a live recording of their song, "Give Him a Great Big Kiss," which features more of the spoken-word singing. Happy Music Monday!
